This is me

I come as I am, to meet you as you are.
I know no other way.
Having grown up in rural Vermont, I have always been an avid outdoor recreator. I grew up hiking, biking, camping, boating, and both water & snow skiing. After attending film school at Emerson College, I pursued a career in the film industry in Los Angeles. It only took me 2 weeks to realize Los Angeles wasn’t the place for me, but 10 years to leave. In that time, I found my partner Andre, and in 2015 we decided to move to Colorado to pursue a work-life balance that included a much higher percentage of backpacking and fishing. We both ended up working for Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and a few years ago some coworkers convinced me to take up hunting. Not only am I now an enthusiastic hunter-- I have also become a Hunter Education instructor, as well as a mentor to a novice young woman.
In 2019, the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (AFWA) honored me with the Stephen Kellert  award for
“outstanding service in advancing connections between humans and the natural world to all peoples in a diverse and inclusive manner”.
In 2020 I co-founded Inclusive Journeys with my business partner Parker McMullen Bushman. We are working to create a new digital Green Book, which will be an online resource to help people of marginalized identities find safe and welcoming businesses and locations.
I use my platform and my voice to continue to help carve out more inclusive spaces in conservation work and outdoor recreation.
